Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

There are numerous cardiac conditions, there is no major classification or defined types.

Anyway, I will try to put forth some common conditions affecting the heart.

1) Ischemic Heart disease : In this condition the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle get blocked due to blood clot. Simple anticoagulation to a major bypass surgery may be needed

2) Electrical disturbances : In here there is disturbance in the impulse generation leading to irregular rhythm with which the heart beats. can be treated with antiarrhythmic drugs.

3) Valvular Disease : In here the valves of the heart get damaged secondary to conditions like rheumatic carditis, SLE, Bacterial endocarditis etc.Valve replacement may be needed.

4) Congestive Cardiac failure : Due to conditions like above the pumping mechanism of the heart gets defective. A 2D ECHO can identify congestive heart failure. Medications are the remedy.

Hope, I answered your query.

regards,
