What Is The Risk Of STI After Unprotected Oral Sex?

Question: I am a male who recently recieved unprotective oral sex from a male for approximately a minute. Am I at risk for sti?
Brief Answer:
Oral sex carries low risk for STI/HIV.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Oral sex carries a low risk for both STI/HIV. That too, insertive sex carries a little lower risk than a recipient oral sex. In the absence of any oral infection or ulcer the chances are meager. Anyhow tests for HIV/ STIs to rule out the same after appropriate timings will relieve unnecessary mental tension.

So, you're saying being the person that is being sucked I am at lower risk then the sucker? How come so many web sites say that there is a risk from oral sex? Should i get a test?
Brief Answer:
Recipient oral sex exposed to semen on larger area
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
A recipient exposed to the semen in the oral mucosa of a larger area for considerable time. This increased the risk slightly more with the recipient than with the person being sucked. If the saliva of the sucker is contaminated with blood (usually not visible) increase the risk.
Testing for HIV/STI and get ruled out would relieve mental tension.
Have a good day.

Thanks for your time. One last question. Why do some sites seem to say there is a significant risk? Just scare tactics?
Brief Answer:
CDC, XXXXXXX is more authorized source.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
Regarding HIV epidemiology, CDC, XXXXXXX USA is a authorized source of information. We most of the doctors follow the same. As per CDC, oral sex carries a low risk. Don't bother about other unauthorized sources.
