Hi,
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
In a child with loose motions no antibiotics are required unless it is a case of
dysentery.
We consider antibiotics if the child has blood in the stool associated with
fever, pain abdomen, mucus in the stool, pain while passing stool.
Most of the loose stools are because of viral infections and antibiotics in such cases may not be useful.
If your kid has blood and mucus in the stool with fever continue the antibiotic as advised by your doctor.
Monitor for signs of
dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5.
Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
This is particularly important if the stools are watery. In such scenario
ORS may have to be given.
You may contact me with further details on the following URL...........

In such scenario the questions are directly forwarded to me .............. and I can answer your queries regarding your kid online regularly.
Hope this helps.
Take care
