11 Year Kid, Rash On Inner Thigh, Growing In Size, Red In Color, Tiredness. Any Ideas?

My son is 11 and usually a healthy vibrant young boy.
He has a rash on his inner thigh that looking at looks like a cold sore, however it has now grown from the size of a ten cent peice to that of a tennis ball. It is very red and angry looking...apparently it is not itchy. He has been very tired for 4 days , sleeping in past 6:30 when usually he is up and alert at 5:30 every day

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Rash can occur because of various causes.
One needs to examine physically to arrive at the exact cause of this rash.
One can arrive at a diagnosis from physical examination findings and associated complaints.
Some times investigations may be required to arrive at a diagnosis.
Does he have such rash any where else in the body?
Is there any associated fever?
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
