13 Month Old Has Constant High Fever, Gave Tylenol. Sore Throat, Swollen. What To Do Next ?
Hi, my son is 13 month old and he had almost 72 hours fever around 38.8 degree, I gave him Tylenol . This morning i found his throat is very red and a bit swollen. He refuses to eat and swallow even his favorite food. He only takes liquids since last night. I d like to know what I should do next, visit his pediatrician? thanks!
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have upper respiratory tract infection may be viral or bacteria.
Continue Tylenol in prescribed dose every 6th hourly depending on the presence of fever.
Continue to give plenty of oral fluids and soft diet to maintain hydration and nutrition.
Consult Pediatrician for the examination to look for focus of infection and to assess the neccessity of antibiotic treatment.
Hope I have answered your query.
Hi,
yes definitely! Go to the doctor! It may be strep throat.
He will need antibiotics.
Give him plenty of fluids,juices,milk,etc.
Telenol can be given 6 hrly and will help in pain relief also to some extent.
Good luck Dr Uma
