13 Weeks Pregnant, Has Constipation, Cramps And Yellowish Mucus Discharge. Had Given Aloe Juice. Advice?

Hello Doc, my grand-daughter is 13 weeks pregnant and is having constipation; we believe is being caused by her prenatal pills. I gave her 1/2 a cup OJ with 1/2 a cup with aloe juice from Cosco's. She called me this morning saying she had cramps and found yellowish mucus on her panties, now I am worrried if this aloe caused a problem, please help.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Constipation is a common problem in pregnancy.
That occurs due to the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the smooth muscles.
Let her once consult gynecologist and get examined to find out the possible cause for cramps and mucus discharge.
After that with the doctor's advice she can go for laxatives medicines.
Along with that she has to take plenty of water, fruits and vegetables.

Take care.
