2 Weeks Baby, Gasping For Air While Sleeping, Snoring. Early Birth. Anything To Worry?
Hi, my infant is two weeks old and came 3 weeks early. My due date was originally October 7th but I had my daughter on September 13th. My question is that when she sleeps it sounds as if she is trying to gasp for air. She also has a little snoring sound as if her nose is stopped up. Is this condition something I should be worried about and take her to the ER?
see your son may have blocked nose ( which can be due to bottle feeding if being fed ) which causes such sounds during sleep.there are some congenital condition which can also cause this but need not to worry as they get resolved by themselves with time.still to come to the definative diagnosis a complete physical examination is must.for nasal blockade you can try nasal saline drops one drop in each nostril sos.
Newborn babaies are obligatory nasal breather, they can not breath through their mouth in normal circumstances.
Often mucus plug blocks the nasal passage. Saline Nasal Drops to be poured in both the nares frequently, and always before feeds, so the nasal passage opens and baby can breath through his nose and also can feed effectively.
Ocassionally nasal passage is congenitaly blocked . Which can be examined and managed by your paediatrician.
