2 Years Old Is Just Over 13 Kgs. Was Prescribed Clonamox. Suggest Dosage?

I have a little boy 2yrs old and he is just over 13kgs. The doctor gave us a prescription for clonamox 125mg/5ml to have while we were away on holidays. I filled the script at the time (july) so I have the dry powder now. I need to use it today and am just wonding how much he should get & for how long? It's not written on the bottle from the pharmacy. I think it's 2.5ml or 5ml but wasn't sure. My pharmacy is not open until tomorrow morning & he really needs it tonight.
Can you help?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
Clonamox contains amoxicillin.
The dose and duration of treatment depends on the type of infections and the site of infection in children.
It can be given in the dosage of 25-50 mg/Kg/day in three divided doses.
So the dose suggested in your child is 5ml thrice daily.
Usually it can be given for 5 to 7 days.
As it belongs to penicillin group, it should be avoided in people with known penicillin allergy.
As it is a prescribed medication it should be given on prescription of the doctor for present condition.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

dear user
clonamax contains amoxycillin antibiotic . dose of amoxycillin depends the kind of infection . you did nt mention for what u need to give it .

in mild infection dose is 50 mg/kg divided in 2 doses .

13mutiply 50 = 650 mg / 2

= 325 mg per time = 10 -15 ml/ dose

or 7.5 ml three times in a day

kindly send query again if u are still in doubt .
