3 Year Old With Bloated Stomach. Not Eating, Hard Stools. Digene Gel Suggested. Have Vomiting Now. What To Do?
Hi, My 3 year old daughter has a bloated stomach. She is very fussy about eating and this has made her to stop eating almost completely.Yesterday her stools were like pellets and hard.I called my paed and he advised to give Digene gel 5 ml thrice a day.I started it since yesterday night but there is not much of an improvement. If I force her with her food, she throws up.Please advise
Force-feeding a child is absolutely the wrong thing to do at any age, and especially so with a toddler whose basic instinct is to eat when hungry and not otherwise. Look around you and ask other mothers and most will tell you that their "2-3 year old is not eating anything". And yet, most toddlers are healthy and active. This is because they will eat only as much as their body demands. At this stage, therefore, it is important not to feed junk to your kid. In fact, don't just discourage junk, keep it away from the house so that your daughter never sees it or gets tempted by it.
For the bloating and gas, it is better to take an anti-gas medicine. Your doctor has advised an antacid, which is inappropriate at this age. Also, please confirm that it is gas. An X-ray or/and an ultrasound of the abdomen might help.
