66 Years. History Of Polyps Removed With Atypical Cells. Due For Hysterectomy. Advisable To Have Surgery In 2 Weeks?

Just got results from D& C. Had polyps removed with some atypical cells. Was told will need hysterectomy and since I'm 66 will have total. I have plans to vacation in Aruba from Oct 28til Nov 6. Could have surgery around 20 or 22 of Sept. Is it advisable do u think to wait until I'm back from Aruba? Don't want complications when I'm out of the country.

hi,
thank you for the question.since you had atypical cells you need hysterectomy. At your age(post menopausal) it is unusual to have polyps.I feel the earlier you undergo hysterectomy the better. If you are undergoing abdominal hysterectomy you should avoid strenuous activity for at least 3 months after surgery. But if you are undergoing laparoscopic method you can be back to your normal activities soon.your gynaecologist will decide the route of hysterectomy after discussing with you.all the best
