8 Bug Bites On Body. History Of Transverse Myeltis, Paralysis And On Physical Therapy. Intake Of Benedryl Suggested?
I was diagnosed with transeverse myeltis in july of 2012 I was paralyzed and have been going through physical therpay ever since. I got bitten by some kind of bugs this afternoon. 8 bites. I am quite scared of my body's reaction. Can I take Benedryl tonight unttil I can get to the hospital in the morning? What should I do?
Hi Your problem appears to be mild unless you are facing problems in breathing or so. The reactions are usually localised and if itching or inflammation is not severe then simple application of calamine lotion will help. In case there is itching or inflammation which is causing you discomfort then topical mid to strong steroids can be applied for a few days- duration depending on severity and response to treatment. Antihistamines like benadryl can be added too. If the reactions are severe then immediate consultation with a skin specialist is suggested. Hope the answer helps Regards Dr amit
