My father, 85, was diagnosed with shingles 4 weeks ago. He has had almost constant pain ranging from 2 (with meds) to 10 without meds (using scale 1-10). However, 5 days ago, he started having severe sharp shooting pains that makes us all start scrambling for anything that will help and usually goes away in about 2-5 minutes. THese happen randomly. Just saw a neuro-opthamologist, he said his eyelid was turned in and wants to do surgery on him to fix it. Said this could be causing these pains--We just don't see the connection--Is this true?
