dr, My mom aged 85 years had a joint replacment done for fracture of femur 9 years back on the right leg. nowadays she is complaining of pain on both the legs. she is multivitamins with mmethycobalamin dosage in the tablet daily . will any injection help??the ortho who operated on her is saying this is out of old age .she is only 40 kgs always. so weight is not an issue.pl suggest
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. From the description, I took it granted that she has undergone total hip replacement and is now complaining of pain in both hip joints. I think even the other hip (non operated side) might have "worn out" (degenerated) leading to pain. Degeneration in the joints is inevitable at that age. One can always try medical management which has only limited role and the definitive management is always by surgery (joint replacement). Consult an orthosurgeon and seek his opinion. Hope this helps
