Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
From the description, I took it granted that she has undergone total hip replacement and is now complaining of pain in both hip joints.
I think even the other hip (non operated side) might have "worn out" (degenerated) leading to pain. Degeneration in the joints is inevitable at that age.
One can always try medical management which has only limited role and the definitive management is always by surgery (joint replacement).
Consult an orthosurgeon and seek his opinion.
Hope this helps
