9 Months Pregnancy. Going To Travel In AC Train. Given Duvadilan Retard. Is It Safe To Use?
Hi I am 8th month pregnancy now, will start 9th month in 2 days. Because of some personal issues I am travelling in train-AC coach for 10 hours(Night journey). I informed to my doctor, she gave duvadilan retard tablets for 7 days (from 2 days before journey). Is it safe to use? these tablets will stop the normal pains(coming normal delivery pains)?
Hello
Thank you for your query.
After 32 weeks of pregnancy, travelling is not advisable, and you require a medical certificate from your treating doctor in order to do so.
Howver, a 10 hour journey should not cause you any problems unless there is a risk of preterm labour.
Duvadilan is a tocolytic ( prevents uterine contractions ), however there is no guarantee that it can stop labour pains, nor is it recommended to be used for such indications.
However, if you have no option but to undertake the journey, take proper rest, do not strain yourself, keep lying down as much as possible, and consult your doctor if there is any risk for preterm labour.
Take care.
