Hello,
I appreciate your query.
The causes for a pins and needles sensation during pregnancy, can be many.
The body retains more fluid during pregnancy. Tissues that surround nerves become edematous, or filled with fluid, creating pressure on the nerves. Compression of the
sciatic nerve in the legs can cause this.
Your body has great nutritional demands while pregnant, which can sometimes result in deficiencies in minerals, causing the sensation of tingling, or pins and needles, in your hands.
Magnesium deficiency can cause tingling in the hands, along with a host of other symptoms. Anemia, or
iron deficiency, can also cause tingling in the hands and feet. Also, deficiency of vitamin B 12, B6 can cause these symptoms.
Sometimes, diabetes presents with such symptoms.
The tightness is nothing to worry about, but please check with your gynecologist and rule out uterine contractions or tendency to abort.
Take
folic acid and vitamin B complex supplements. Take plenty of iron rich food and protein intake, if the symptoms do not subside,
consult a neurologist for it.
All the best.
