94 Year Old Diagnosed With Pneumonia. Have Diarrhea And Vomiting, Blood In Urine. Need Emergency Care?

My 94 year old Mom went to hospital yesterday because of diarrhea/ vomiting . She s been diagnosed with pneumonia and also has blood in her urine. Is it common to have blood in urine with pneumonia? She is living at home with round-the-clock caregivers but sits 98% of the day. Do you think I should fly to OH asap? The hospital has admitted her for at least 3 days we were told.

hi there, pneumonia is a serious condition and more so in extremes of age like children and the elderly. Its good that she has been admitted to the hospital as she will require round the clock monitering with her ABG and Oxygen saturation levels.Getting RBCs in urine is possible in this condition. Depending on her response to antibiotics and her general condition and improvement you may make your travel plans. She needs plenty of supportive care in her condition and so do make sure she is getting proper attention at the hospital as well. Do not be in a hurry to get her back home as the care in the hospital will be better. Take care.
