ADHD, Taking Adderall, Want To Take Laxative Containing Sennosides, Ducosate Sodium. Is It Safe?

Hello. My name is Joe. I am a 23 year old male. I am prescribed Adderall for ADHD and was wondering if it is safe to take a laxative containing sennosides and ducosate sodium while I am on this medication.

There is generally no problem taking laxatives with stimulant medications. Many of the stimulant medications cause constipation as a side effect. I find that many patients with this side effect do not get much relief from traditional laxatives because the issue of constipation has little to do with hard, dry stool, but more with central fecal retention due to the "fight or flight" effects (also called sympathomimetic effects) of these medications. Best of health to you.
