Any Suggestion For Suffering From Seizure?

My grandpa had a stroke around 6 months ago and the night before last he was taken into hospital as he had, had a seizure, which consisted of his whole body shaking and it was very painful. He has not yet seen a Dr in the hospital even though he has been there over 24 hours. Can you advise what this might be?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your grandfather's history. This is suggestive of post-stroke seizure.

It is common for people with stroke in the past to present with seizure, due to scar formation in the brain.

The diagnosis can be confirmed by doing an MRI of brain and EEG.

There is no need to worry as it responds well to usual anti-epielptic drugs such as levetiracetam, sodium valproate, etc.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
