Any Suggestion For Unable To Eat Anything, Losing Weight After Hernia Surgery?

My mom just had surgery to correct a hernia in her diaphragm (her stomach was up above as well as her spleen and part of her intestines) She obviously is having a hard time eating, so she is just on liquids, but since it took them 1 full month to figure out what was wrong with her and then do the surgery, and it she is 8 days out from surgery, she has lost 32 lbs. I am worried about her because she still isnt able to even get down TINY pieces of jello. Is there anything she is going to be able to eat other than broth? what can we do about her losing weight?

I really appreciate your concern, post surgical event could be the possible reason for what your mother has the symptoms, some time it may take little more time for healing so be patience it will be fine later or sooner meanwhile it is advisable to have words with surgeon, in such post surgical symptoms stress may be the reason if it is not the post surgical complication, symptomatic medicine can be tried like PPI (Proton pump inhibitor) Omeprazole is the best drug of choice, reducing her weight may not be point of worry at this moment unless she completely healed, then you can manage diet plan for her just to reduce the weight hope this information helps.
