Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my wife is pregnant with two months. she is suffering from Pcod and thyroid. pregnancy occurs naturally after 08 years of marriage. doctor has suggest dufastan, gestofit 300 sr and divafol for one month presently in addition to metmorphin 500 and thyronorm 175 mg. Is dufastan(dydrogesterone) and gestofit (progesterone sustained release) is safe during pregnancy because i have little bit confused regarding adverse effect of this medicine (on internet)
Since those drugs were prescribed by her doctor, you don't have to worry. Because no doctor wants to do harm to their patients. Duphaston contains dydrogesterone that has been used worldwide. Dydrogesterone is safe to use during pregnancy only when prescribed and indicated by her treating doctor.
So does Gestofit. Gestofit is progesterone. Progesterone is essential for pregnancy and where there is lack of it often leads to miscarriages. So this drug is preventing miscarriages that tend to occur in your wife's condition. Make sure your wife take those drugs as prescribed. Routinely take your wife to her obstetrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nurul Falah
