Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Acne On Back, Chest And Face And Itching Normal After Taking Prednisone?
I have been on prednisone for about seven weeks. I took my last dose about four days ago. Since then, i have started breaking out with acne on my back, chest, and now face and it is becoming itchy. Is this normal? I also need to mention i am on Lialda for Crohn s.
First of all, I need to see what type of acne is it as acne can have different variants. One of the steroids is acne but do you have acne already or just started after taking steroids? Acne can be itchy but please don't scratch it as it can get infected and then you need to take extra medications for that and it usually leave scar. Hence, it's important to see your acne. Consult a dermatologist with this information for appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
