Hi. I am 33 weeks pregnant with twins.. on bed rest as a precaution..had no complications yet except for once hospitalized at 28 weeks for contractions due to dehydration. Anyway, I noticed in the past week my hands & feet swelling more, not too drastic..but one hand looks blue compared to the other with bigger veins for some reason, especially in the evening. Is this normal or should I head to the doctor?
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.Edema and swelling in the limbs can be due to excessive intravenous fluids you might have received, or due to pre eclampsia. Prominent veins are likely due to increased blood flow, which is normal in pregnancy. I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, get your blood pressure checked and take appropriate treatment. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health.
