Are Delayed Periods Normal After Stopping The Birth Control Pill?

I recently went of the birth control pill and am now 42 days past my last period. I have been having some pregnancy symptoms (very tired, sore nipples that now appear larger, feeling slightly sick to my stomach) I have done 2 pregnancy tests, both of which came back negative. I have gone off the pill once before in order to have my son, but do not remember my cycles being this late. Should I go to the Dr? Could I be getting false negatives?
