Are Irregular And Abnormal Periods, Heavy Clotting And Bleeding Due To Menopause?

I am 42 years old (or will be in a few weeks). For years now I have had abnormal periods. I least number of days I will usually go without a menstrual cycle would be 33 days or so but I have went as long as almost 90 days at times and this last time was 43 days. I sometimes have semi light cycles or like this time, heavy clotting and bleeding. Is this menopause or peri-menopause?
