Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Red, Itchy And Swollen Toes Indicating An Underlying Autoimmune Disease?
I have really red, itchy, swollen toes. I believe it is chilblains. I have had them for a few years. I also have a positive ANA. All of the "more specific" tests done after came back negative. I have Raynauds but I don't use medication (they only go white, not black). I also have granuloma anularis (sp?) Dx 1 year ago but present for around 5.
Anythin ring a bell for possible autoimmune diseases?
I am so sorry to hear about this red and itchy toes that you have reported. This is not suggestive o an auto immune disease. This may represent athlete's foot which is caused by a fungi. i will recommend that you get this checked out by your doctor and manage accordingly. If the supicion if confirmed, treatment is usually with topical antifungals creams and/or oral tablets.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.
