Are Stomach Upset With Dizziness & Sore Throat Symptoms Of Flu?
Hi. My 10 year old daughter has had a fever of 101 for the last 3 days. She has been very lethargic. Today, she said she has a headache, upset stomach, and a sore throat. She has also been complaining about being dizzy. Should I take her to a doc? Or is this the flu?
I am sorry for the situation your daughter is in. She is having "subfebrile" body temperature which is a sign of flu. Being lethargic, having headache, upset stomach and sore throat are also signs of flu.
I advise to give her plenty of fluids (juice, water, tea) to keep her hydrated as she is not having appetite. Hydration will lessen her lethargic state.
Being dizzy is because she is not eating. Encourage to have some chicken soup to get more energy.
Advise her to: - take acetaminophen for the pain or fever - take cold pills - take vit.C supplementation - gargle her throat with water and salt - take 1 teaspoon of olive oil and honey in the morning.
Usually, flu symptoms will last for at least 10 to 3 weeks. If her symptoms will worsen, should send her to the doctor.
Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
