Hello, Could I be going through menopause at 31? I had bright red blood spotting yesterday as it was supposed to be the start of my monthly cycle but only was spotting. I took pregnancy test and I am not pregnant even though I "should" be..... any thoughts?
Menopause normally occurs around the age of 45 - 50 yrs. Early menopause is also known to occur in some females that too is known to occur around 35 yrs. Chances of menopause in your case are negligible in my opinion. If only spotting is occurring at the start of period then in my opinion you should wait for 2-4 more days if there occurs a proper menses otherwise you need to go for pregnancy check after that. As you already have taken the pregnancy test you should repeat it after 7 days if proper menses does not occur as sometimes early pregnancy tests are negative. So I will advise you to wait till 7 days for both the things - wait for normal menses and to repeat pregnancy test. If both the things does not happen by that time you should consult your physician.
