Are There Side Effects Associated With Stopping Of Metformin Intake?
My mom has recently been taken off Metformin after taking it for over 10 years. She now strictly on insulin. She s 81 years of age. It s been a month now that she s off Metformin and she s experiencing digestive problems, loss of appetite, chills, rash , pain in the abdominal area and extreme fatigue. Is what she s feeling due to the removal of metaformin? Are there side effects associated with stoppage of this medication
Hi, welcome to health care magic forum. It appears that metformin is working in more than one function in your mother. As it is it is not supporting the symptoms, which may be du eto the urinary tract infection, or some other factor. If metformin is working for other things like on the fatty tissues, and ovaries etc it is to be continued adjusting the dose of insulin. At the same time it is important to find if the sugar is under control or not with insulin dosage, if not dose is to be adjusted. Avoid giving, more of calories, fruits, and sweets. I advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
