Baby Fell From Bed. Hurts While Lifting Arms. Gave Ibuprofen. Solution?
hello, my 18 month old fell out of the bed this morning and she wasnt screaming at the top of her lungs as she did about 2 months ago when she sprained her wrist , she has movement in her wrist and up her arm however when i tried to lift her arm she goes half way as if she is making amuscle but anything higher she starts to whine as it hurts, when i lift her under her arms it seems to bother her a little, i gave her some ibprofen i had from when she sprained her wrists
Look for any obvious swelling in her arms/ shoulder joint/ collar bone.
If the impact of the fall was on her shoulders, there might be a soft tissue injury or injury to the bones in arm or the collar bone.
You may give Ibuprofen thrice a day after feeds in correct dosage.
If pain and restriction of movements persist, its better to see your Pediatrician.
If bone injury is suspected, X ray will be needed.
Be careful when you put her on the cot. Cot railings will prevent such falls.
Best wishes.
Hi
It is looking like sprain around shoulder joint that is causing pain .You can give Ibuprofen orally for pain in prescribed dosage . In falls head injury is the major concern as it causes life threatening complications. Watch for any vomitings or altered behavior. Consult your Pediatrician for examination of your child and medication . In future you should take precautions to prevent domestic accidents like this falls from heights, TV fall on head while playing with stand, Hot water burns, Accidental poisonings with medication and domestic things.
