Baby's Foot Making Popping Sound But Walking Fine. Normal?
Hi, I gently pulled my baby s (16mths) foot whilst putting her jeans on and felt and heard a pop, it was as if her foot wasn t connected to her ankle and it has made me very worried. I took her to our family doctor today who examined her and watched her walk (holding my hands - she has only taken a few steps on her own) Our Doctor reassured me that all is ok as her legs are aligned but once home and having a cuddle before bed she moved and I heard the popping sound again. The sensation and sound from the incident has made me feel sick and I don t know if this is normal in babies/children or if I should request an x-ray?
If she is comfortable & able to walk as before you should not worry. If she cries on ankle movement, refuses to bear wt on affected side, has local swelling or bruising ,she mostlikely has ankle sprain & the sound is called ligamentous click.
A ligament is the fibrous tissue that connects bones to other bones.
X ray in ankle sprain will most likely be normal.
The treatment of ankle sprain in immediate phase is RICE (Rest, local Ice application, Compression & Elevation)
Hope I have answered your query.
