Back Pain Due To Degenerative Disc Disease, Minor Arthritis. Classified As Disability?
hi have been having back pain for a few months at work seen local gp and sent for x-rays and ct scan he tells me i have degenerative disc disease and minor arthritis of the L5 lumbar ...but did mention 1 disc was swollen. now is there chance it will get worse overtime and heavy lifting to be avoided and is it classed as a disability?

These type of changes are common in older age above 35. If you follow certain precautions and take care of your spine than it will never get worsen. It is not classed as a disability. Precautions you have to follow are:
1. Use hard bed to sleep.
2. Use lumbosacral belt while driving and walking.
3. Avoid all jerky movements of spine.
4. Use analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug to reduce pain.
5. Hot fermentation also help in reducing symptoms.
6. Do not lift heavy weight.
7. Bed rest is best treatment in worse condition.
