Bacterial Infection Causing Spots/lumps On Pubis. Prescribed Vibrate Tab/Doxycycline. Suggestion?

Hi there, Can you tell what some of the names of bacterial infection causing spots/lumps on the Mons Pubis are called? I when to the Dr today and he prescribed me Vibrate-tabs/Doxycycline to remedy for 2 months which he believes will eradicate the problem. I cannot remember what the medical name was though.

I just want to research as I am not sure if I should go to see a Gyno also.

I would be very grateful for any help you can provide.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,
From the way you have expressed your complaints and its location goes in favor of ingrown hair follicles getting infected by bacteria. It is called as folliculitis. If treated earlier by proper antibiotics + anti inflammatory + anti allergic + local application of antibiotic and if necessary cortisone combination ointment may cure the condition easily..
Avoiding allergic soaps or lotion and avoiding scratching that area will prevent further infection. If any of the bumps are discharging, a pus culture and sensitivity can be done to decide the proper antibiotic. Look into your diabetic condition. Don't allow the infection to spread further complicating the treatment
FOLLICULITIS is the common problem in that area so I have used that name
You will be alright with proper treatment.
Best wishes for you
