Based On My Lipid Profile, Why My HDL Went Down?

I just had a lipid profile. My current numbers are: 180 Total; 44 HDL; 126 LDL; Triglyeride 52

Last year my numbers were: 213 Total; 57 HDL; 139 HDL; Triglyceride 84

I'm wondering why my HDL went down, but I improved all the other numbers?

I am 59 year old female.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The comparison of your lipid profile is as follows:
The total cholesterol was initially 213 which is high and now it improved to 180. Value of 180 mg/dl is within normal range.
The LDL level was initially 126 which was high and it has increased to 139 mg/dl. The LDL levels should be below 100 mg/dl. You need to consult your doctor for medications to reduce the levels of LDL.
The HDL level was 57 and now it has fallen to 44 mg/dl. Although there is decrease in level of HDL, however, it is still within normal limits.
The triglyceride level was 84 and now it is 52. This is an improvement and the triglyceride levels should be below 150 mg/dl.

Thus, the LDL levels have to be taken care of.
HDL should be above 40 mg/dl.
Regular exercise, consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids and fiber rich diet will improve the HDL levels and also help in reducing LDL.
However, you need to consult your doctor for the raised LDL levels.

Thanks and take care
