Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bipolar daughter who is alcoholic. I have custody of her daughter, and she is presently becoming aggitated with me while on the phone. She has been living with various men, breaking up, getting drunk, not taking her meds, and is very violent while drinking. I am so sick and tired of lack of mental health in this country. She needs to be hospitalized long term and I am afraid of her, since she has beaten me on several occassions.
It is of concern that your daughter requires proper medical attention and treatment of her condition which might even need hospitalisation. As you have already mentioned that she is under treatment, the matter my be discussed with her psychiatrist in detail and informing them about her regular behavioral changes and alcohol addiction. I understand there are state laws in each country which lay down hospitalsation and treatment guidelines and would recommend you to explain everything that is happening with your daughter to the concerned doctor and/ or counselor.
If she has beaten you on earlier occasions, I suggest you contact social protection authorities and seek guidance on the matter.
Hope this helps
