Black To Brown Menstrual Bleeding. Taking Tri Sprintec. Infection?

Hi, my period usually always comes red. But last month and this month its been coming black to brown no red at all. I'm taking Tri Sprintic also. Im wondering if I have an infection because my friend slept with his babymother an she went to the doctor for a last check up an the doctor told her she has an infection an gave her an him pills to take for it. So I'm wondering if I caught it too as to why my period is black which it never came like that before.

Hello
Thanks for your query.
The reason for the scanty period could very well be your birth control.
It is a known side effect.
Other reasons could be ageing of the ovary, endometrial hyperplasia, polycystic ovaries, infections of the endometrium such as tuberculosis etc.
About the infection and the reason for scant period, consult your gynecologist for a thorough check up.
All the best.
