Bleeding After Having Sex, Clots, Cramping. Have PCOS, Given Birth Recently. What To Do?

I had a baby 10 months ago. Every time my husband and I have sex I tend to bleed. Sex isn t painful and I wasn t bleeding a lot. However about 2 weeks ago, the next morning after having sex I thought I had started my period. It lasted for about a week. Then a couple of days ago, we had sex again. The next afternoon, I noticed I had started bleeding. Today I have been bleeding a lot. I have gone through 3 pads in about 3 hours and things don t seem to be letting up. The blood is bright red and I can feel it coming out. There seem to be small pea size clots. I m cramping as well. What should I be doing? What could this be? I have PCOS if that matters.

Hi,

Let me walk you through "PCOS"

POLY-CYSTIC-OVARIAN-SYNDROME = " multiple , fluid filled cavities in ovary"

NOW FOR simple understanding is not medically accurate just for understanding purpose ONLY.
Main function of ovary is to produce the female sex hormone like estrogen / progesterone which comes out in a cyclic fashion like 25 days comes estrogen while for 5 days comes progesterone which cause bleeding. This is maintained by brain but the days varies for all females. now due to the PCOS the production of estrogen and progesterone gets disturbed/ may not have enough production on one or the other leading to imbalances and hence makes irregular bleeds as well as problems with pregnancies are seen.

Following are SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF PCOS
1) Acne.
2) Weight gain and trouble losing weight.
3) Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.
4) Thinning hair on the scalp.
5) Irregular periods. Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.
6) Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant (infertility).
7) Depression.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOW COMING TO ISSUE YOU ARE FACING
1) Clots of blood are found
2) You are seeing active bright bleeding after sex

Their are few other other cause that can lead to similar problems like you are facing
1) TRAUMA to vagina
2) CERVICAL CANCER (causes post sex bleeding and is painless)
3) PCOS

ADVICE:
1) PLEASE SEE GYNECOLOGIST
2) Get an Speculum exam ( where gynec will visually check signs for trauma / cervical cancer)
3) Get an PAP SMEAR TEST to check for cervical cancer
4) Get an PELVIC ULTRASOUND TO Check other cause of bleeding
5) Get hormonal profile to have a check on "PCOS"
