Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
It is unfortunate that none of the medical professionals have so far informed you that you cannot continue the
pregnancy after consumption of
Cytotec (
misoprostol ).
It is classified as Pregnancy Category X drug or a Teratogen.
Congenital anomalies sometimes associated with
fetal death have been reported subsequent to the unsuccessful use of misoprostol as an abortifacient, but the drug's teratogenic mechanism has not been demonstrated. Several reports in the literature associate the use of misoprostol during the first trimester of pregnancy with skull defects,
cranial nerve palsies, facial malformations, and limb defects.
After taking Misoprostol, continuation of pregnancy is not advisable. Termination is recommended.
Please talk to your doctor at the earliest, as continuation is just not recommended in this case.
A termination at 18 weeks is not advisable, so it is a real dilemma. Go for a detailed anomaly scan to rule out abnormalities in the baby.
All the best.
Take care.
