Blood Work Showing Elevated Potassium Level. Is It Safe To Use KLOR-CON M20 Tablets?
i recently had some blood work showing my potassium level at 2.8 the ER doctor then gave me some potassium pills, and prescribed KCl oral solution 20 mEq/15 ml, but my doctor change that to KLOR-CON M20 tablets (2 tablets twice daily) and mag oxide 400mg 3 x daily. He wants me to come back in 2 weeks. My question is the KLOR-CON M20 tablets (2 tablets twice daily) my DR prescribed is it too much? Is it safe? thanks
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Patients with Potassium levels less than 3 and more than 2.5 mEq/L are prescribed 20 to 60 mEq of oral potassium in divided doses.
KLOR-CON M20 x2 is not too much, it can be adjusted afterwards when your potassium level will increase above 3 mEq/L. Do not take two tablets of KLOR-CON M20 simultaneously Monitor you glucose levels frequently, you may require dextrose water infusion if you encounter hypoglycemia.
Hope it helps.
Take Care!
