I had an abdominal hysterectomy and ovaries removed 7+ years ago. I was on a very low-dose HRT pill for a few months. I got concerned about breast cancer, as my grandmother had it, so I stopped the pill. In the last 2 to 3 years I have gotten progressively worse with insomnia, severe night sweats, hot flashes, loss of hair, thinning of skin, mood swings, weight gain, brain fog, and just feeling awful. I started natural progesterone cream which did stop the severe night sweats and controlled the,hot flashes but no help for the other symptoms. I went to a new GYN today and he says at age 65 I should NOT be having hot flashes and basically said my symptoms were not caused by the hysterectomy. He refused to order hormone testing and would not prescribe a low-dose pill. He prescribed EstroGel. I am willing to try just about anything at this point, but I am a little skeptical of this plan because this doctor seemed to scoff at my suggestions and symptoms. Does EstroGel address all or most of the above symptoms or should I seek
another opinion?
Thank you,
Sherry
