Broke The Toe. Ortho Wrapped It. Now Having Burning, Pricking Needles Feeling. Problem?

My 21 year old son broke his third toe yesterday. The ortho straightened the toe and wrapped it with toe beside it to keep straight. This morning he has burning and feels like needles sticking in outer bottom of foot. He doesn't have a lot of swelling there. Is this normal or should I call my doctor to look at x-ray again?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The mild burning and pricking sensation that you are having is likely to be due to involvement of some nerve fibers in the area. As the fracture gradually heals, the sensation will gradually decrease.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
