Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Bruises On Knees, Ankles, Turning Red, Small Bumps Under Skin. Blood Tests Done. Treatment?
For more than 2 weeks now I have had medium sized bruises appear on my knees and one on my left ankle and have hardly healed, sometimes turning red like someone had just slapped my skin but never turning to the healing yellow colour I usually get. Late last week I got small painful lumps that formed underneath where the bruise is. Went to my usual GP but the blood tests that came back showed nothing to solve it. Is there another specialist I can try or just wait it out?
Hi there Mia. I read your predicament with interest. At the outset, do you have any psoriasis or any blood disorders in your family? How old/young are you exactly? Is there any associated joint pain..knee & /or ankle associated? Is the rash itchy or are those bruises spreading? Do you have any other skin issues with scaling skin in the past & /or something mimicking severe dandruff? I do think that this eruption calls for the attentions of a dermatologist & please do go across & fix an appointment with one. Also, a skin-biopsy may be required to help clinch the diagnosis. I envisage this will probably be an entity that fits into a group of disorders called papulosquamous disorders or a localised skin infection...both very simple to manage & nothing to worry about! Perhaps an antibiotic course will sort you out if it is the latter but Yes, time for a Dermatologist's Intervention @ Ground0! Hope this answer has pointed you out in the right direction & Good Luck & wish you a speedy recovery & a clear skin soon!
