My sister who is 29 years old healthy female, just had a baby born at 25 weeks. First child. No health care issues during pregnancy . . At 25 weeks she was diagnosed with toxemia and her doctor had to do an emergency c-section. Baby weight is 1.5pounds. Baby was diagnosed with hole in heart and bubble in the lungs. Are these symptoms survivable? and what are the treatment plans?

Hello
Welcome to HealthcareMagic
Survival of a preterm child depends on a lot many factors like gestational age birth wt congenital anomalies and antenatal and postnatal complications.
But the chances of survival are more if fetus has passed the period of viability that is 28 wks inside the uterus and preferably has no anomalies.
A hole in the heart is a layman term used for all congenital heart disorders but treatment and prognosis is very different for different disorders.so in your query the specific treatment and survival can't be answered.but yes with the latest scientific advancement in a good hospital many such babies can be survived depending on their severity of disease.
Thanks
hi welcome to HCM.prognosis is different for different types of heart anomalies.you have not specify the type of heart problem.in this advanced medical era your baby disease can be treated, your docs do there best for your baby.your baby is just 25weeks gestation baby so prognosis is littlebit less only.believe in god.
