Bulky Lump In Bowels, Pain In Abdomen And Blood In Urine. Ovaries Are Normal. Explain

Hi, my doctor did a anal examination and felt a bulky lump to the left side, but not in the bowel, behind the wall, I have blood in urine and constipation, she sent me straight to the hospital, where they did a vaginal examination and felt nothing, 3 woks later, which on Friday last, I went for a bowel examination, he said they seem fine but felt a bulky lump to the left side, but behind the wall, not in the bowel, which I'm thinking is the same lump my gp felt, I had an ultra sound scan on my ovaries which they said looked normal, but the consultant that did the bowel exam says they must of missed the lump, is there anywhere else besides the ovaries this lump could be situated? And ate bulky lumps serious? I have slight pain to the left lower abdomen still constipated and blood in urine, lower back pain and generally feel unwell, hope you got an answer for me

Thank you for the query.

It all depends how deep the lump is present. It does not have to be uterine or ovaries related, however this two organs are close to the rectum.

But the very first part of the rectum is located "extraperitonealy". It means that this part is not in the abdominal cavity (abdominal cavity) starts few centimeters above the first part of the rectum.
In this part, rectum is surrounded by soft tissues which generally are muscles and fatty tissues.

In this tissues there can be a pus collection what is called an abscess. Such abscess can be as a result of pathological canal between the rectum and mentioned tissues (rectal fistula). It can give a lump like structure, pain and blood in stool.

So such lump does not have to be caused by ovaries or uterine problem (however ultrasound of ovaries or uterine does not rule it out).

The best test which should answer what are you dealing with is pelvis MRI, what definitely should be done at your case.
