C-section Done. OB Refusing To Discuss VBAC. Risk?
I'm 40 years old and this is my 4th pregnancy. I delivered my first two vaginally, no complications. My 3rd was delivered at 34 weeks through emergency c-section due to my water breaking and she was still sideways - she was the sole survivor of triplets. It is also very low incision. I am now at 36 and half weeks. baby boy is healthy and head down and has been a very uneventful pregnancy. My OB is refusing to discuss VBAC and even used scare tactics to make me think me and the baby would die if I tried - too big of a risk. Everything I have found suggests that my risk is minimal. What really is MY risk?
Hello Thanks for your query. According to the latest VBAC guidelines, you can definitely attempt VBAC. The risk of uterine rupture would be 4 % . having had previous 2 vaginal deliveries further improves your chances of success. It is a calculated risk you would be taking with full understanding. VBAC should only be attempted in a centre with excellent monitoring facilities during labour. All the best to you for your delivery. Take care.
