Hi Doctor,My relative Mr Asim Roychowdhury, age 42 was having back pain for the past 6 months or so. As he was working in a private firm and no chance to take a leave he used to go the office regularly. One day I saw that his face changed black and I adviced him to go for a checkup. A local doctor after seeing him adviced him to do a X-Ray of DL Spine. After the report of X Ray came he adviced to do MRI and many blood tests. All the report came and doctor told us that he is having tuberculosis. He gave ATD medicine for 6 months and adviced to take complete bed rest.My question is, is his treatment going right. What is our next step we should carry. Thanks
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, ATD (anti tubercular drugs) cure TB. The way you are describing his symptoms, possibility of Kochs Spine (tuberculosis of vertebra) is more likely. MRI is diagnostic. So start anti tubercular drugs along with bed rest. He can also start physiotherapy to strengthen back muscles. Don't worry, he will be alright with proper 6 months of treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to him. Thanks.
