Can Adjuvant Chemotherapy And Herceptin Therapy Effectively Treat Breast Cancer?

My wife 33 years old 171 cm,65 kgs premenopausal lady had left breast radical mastectomy on May 20' 2011 .biopsy revelaed Her+++,ER+,PR+,12/24 nodes positive cancer but no cancer cells found externally.Grade-2,stage-3 cancer.Now she is undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy(adriyamycin,cycloxan)3cycles completed and 4th cycle on 15 Aug'11.From 5 sep 11,doctor advised Herceptin therapy for 9 cycles.Method of treatment is OK or not & secondly what is the sucess on survival rate? Third can we get this medicine directly so that we benefit with the discounts? need your reply.Calling from Chennai,india.Please tell me what is present cost of herceptin 440 mg?

Hello dear. It is a relatively poor subset of disease. So adding herceptin from 5th cycle onwards is highly advisable. Moreover i would recommend to take full 17 cycle course of herceptin instead of 9 cycles. Also radiation and hormonal treatment is must. Survival rate is high around 70 percent in stage 3 if you take full course of herceptin otherwise it will be very poor. You can get medicine directly from the original supplier. Present cost of 1 dose is around 55 to 75 rupees depending upon the brand. You consult your doctor. He will arrange direct contact with supplier for you.
