I am 18 week pregnant now. I have a bad wisdom tooth ache and decay. Though dentist told me that its safe to remove the tooth now, she prescribed me also Augmenten 650 for 5 days (if I am not planning to extract the tooth). Is it safe for me to have the tablet?

Hello, Welcome to HCM Augmentin is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate.Amoxicillin-clavulanate has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal any evidence of teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancies. So,i would suggest you to take this drug only if your doctor thinks its very much essential.Otherwise you can take plain amoxcillin capsules. Hope you are satisfied with the answer. Thank you
