HI, I have been receiving b-12 injections for the last 3 weeks, the third shot was yesterday, my blood pressure was very high yesterday and again today 170/97, can the b-12 injections cause the increase in blood pressure? My blood pressure is usually fine. I take .05 mg of amilloride, 5 mg of lisinopril, 20 mg omeprazole, 5mg of onglyza, and 40 mg of simvastatin daily plus low dose asprin. My vitamin D level is also low and my calcium is high

Hi,

Thanks for your post in HCM

I do understand your pain and discomforts

“As” per your history is concerned your blood pressure has no relation with vitamin B-12 injection. In day to day life we prescribe vitamin B-12 in IM. Now you are taking medications for Blood pressure and please check if you have following symptoms present or not?

1)weakness

2)bone and joint pain

3)loss of appetite

4)excessive urination

5)abdominal pain

If any one sign present then consult with your treating doctor to advise for thyroid and parathyroid gland check up physically and he will advise you all hormone tests as well as an ultrasound scan to ruled out any tumor present or not.

In my opinion your high BP may be secondary in origin so details needed about you if you are a female.

I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any clarification then do not hesitate to ask me.

Wishing you all the best

Thanks
