Can EBV Cause Heartburn And GERD?
Can ebv cause heartburn and GERD? I had a sudden and severe onset of GERD 4 months ago that has only worsened. I have been on Nexium for four days and it seems to just be getting worst. I was diagnosed with EBV a few months ago, and my tonsils are still enlarged and cryptic with puss and discomfort. I need help and the doctors can't seem to do anything. Please advise.

No EBV does not cause GERD.
But EBV can cause esophagitis with symptoms like discomfort behind the sternum and pain during swallowing.
An upper GI endoscopy may be done to see whether you have esophagitis.
