Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have what appears to be jock itch. I have just started to apply micogel (Miconazole Nitrate IP 2% w/w Pre-servative: Chlorocresol IP 0.1% w/w In a cream base, Propylene Glycol q.s.) . I have slight soreness on my penis also. Should I apply the micogel on the penis too? I am 54 years old with no significant ailments (mild hypertension)

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Miconazole is an antifungal medication used to treat various fungal infections including jock itch. However, it is not recommended to apply miconazole or any other topical medication on the penis without consulting with a healthcare provider first. The reason is that the skin on the penis is very sensitive and applying certain topical medications can irritate, allergic reactions, or even damage to the skin.
It is recommended that you schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider to evaluate your symptoms and determine the best course of treatment. They may prescribe a different medication or recommend a different treatment approach based on your specific needs. It is always important to follow the instructions of your healthcare provider or medication label carefully and never use medication in a way that is not prescribed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
